Abstraction created by "following" the ink blots using a black pen and acryllic paint and some gold paint.........Totally starting with nothing but the white hand made washi - paper adding sumi black and colored inks to create the blotches which guide me in the process of drawing lines ,shapes and forms.Never knowing what the outcome will be just searching for a "balance".The washi ,the framing and the creation of the ink blotches were all done in…
Japan but the drawing of the lines and the filling in with paint of the shapes were done in my studio in Mexico.About 3 months of work.

Kees Ouwens is a painter and sculptor based in Mexico whose works have been exhibited nationally, as well as in the United States, South Korea, Germany, and Japan. Through his diverse abstract pieces, he hopes that viewers "sense something instinctively inside of them without necessarily understanding". For Ouwens, art allows for freedom.
