About this artwork
Due to the global pandemic of Covid 19 he wanted to create a piece of art to convey the many paradoxes of our human experience as a race, damaging Mother Earth on a macro level, the virus damaging humans on a micro level.
He chose a finish on the piece to convey the paradoxes of the virus which is both simplistic in its makeup yet complex to create a vaccine. Causing personal suffering, a beautiful blessing for Mother Earth, giving us scope to… look beyond our own interests.
He created a shape to show an abstract form of humanity carrying the virus. The top of the piece is cloak like or hooded, the point at the back conveying a large brain yet almost evil in our ignorance as a species. And beautiful in our potential. We are highly intelligent yet ignorant.
He believes that the outcome of this Virus on a virus (humanity) will have a positive outcome on a spiritual level and will force humanity to evolve, diminishing greed and becoming more aware of our behaviour.

Kevin Sweeney is an established British sculptor with national exposure. He had a number of professions before turning to sculpture, including a children's entertainer, panel beater and musician. After experiencing a rough period, he turned to sculpture to express himself and soon found a line of commission requests waiting. Today, Sweeney uses his sculptures to explore human emotions and systems of energy beyond what is visible to the naked eye.
