About this artwork
On a walk through our neighborhood, we pass a flowerbed lovingly tended by a local resident, planted with many colorful flowers. In autumn, the dahlias glow in the sunlight, and a reflection sparkles on the silky threads of a spider. Just as we're paying attention, a car reverses on the opposite side of the street, its taillights illuminating the dahlia's color. A piece of nature in everyday urban life.

Kirsten Treis is a freelance painter from the Rhineland. Her works explore nature and landscapes. The artist typically transforms her random observations of everyday situations, which she first captures on camera. She is often drawn to the play of light. In her studio, these colorful, vibrant works emerge. The viewer's gaze falls on wildflowers and garden flowers, sometimes in bud, sometimes in full bloom, but also in decline. Anyone who observes blossoms will always be delighted by the diverse insects that visit them. Butterflies flutter through paintings, and bees and bumblebees seek out colorful blossoms. Kirsten Treis works with acrylic paints on canvas. She applies the paint in multiple layers, sometimes allowing the underlying colors to show through.
