About this artwork
In this watercolor work, the artist plays with geometric shapes, whose colors create a lively contrast between the delicate blue and the intense reddish brown.
The black square was introduced into art by Kazimir Malevich, El Lissitzky and other artists of Russian Constructivism in the 1920s. In his watercolor series, Klaus Feuchtinger examines the color possibilities and also varies the pure geometric construction.

« Each painting challenges me: it tells me what it wants me to do and when to rest satisfied. »
Klaus Feuchtinger is an established German painter with a strong love for France and Italy. His predominantly abstract works are characterized by a dense color palette. Feuchtinger creates his painterly messages with broad and sweeping brushstrokes. But he also likes to take "excursions" into a representational style of painting, which also comes close to surrealism. He sees his paintings as "inventions" whose exploration and interpretation he likes to leave to the viewers of his paintings.
