About this artwork
Ah yes, I should have thought of that! Imagine how I racked my brains for this new convoluted (or rather mineralized?) pun.
So it was by the sweat of my brow (toil!) that this street art-influenced painting was born. The street, then. The street of thirst. The street of sweat, too, come to think of it: August 15th, 1 p.m., sun at its zenith, heat, a sea of bucket hats and shorts, not even room left in the crowded restaurants, the whining of the… child, the recrimination of the teenager... and not a single drop of water.* THIRST.
Well, I've had to start over three times, I have to say. You can't accuse me of not caring.
*Any resemblance to a real-life situation is purely coincidental

Ophélie Simonet, also known as KOA, is a self-taught painter born in 1987 in La Rochelle, France. Inspired by pop culture, 90s nostalgia, and her synesthesia, she favors a neo-pop, graphic, minimalist, and colorful style, celebrating the childlike nature of art while challenging academic conventions. Through a playful and unconventional energy, her works radiate good vibes and invite us to rediscover the audacity of simplicity, awakening the child within each of us and instilling contagious joy.
