About this artwork
A keyhole, a crack, a door left slightly ajar. I look through the gap between my fingers, cover my ears, yet still listen. Curiosity overcomes fear and reason. My heart pounds. I see terrifying monsters, then people embracing, kissing, undressed. I close my eyes and open them again. Someone is dying. I see something terrible and something beautiful. Even with my eyes closed, the images remain. I do not want to remember them, yet I know I may never…
forget.
Perhaps one day, when I grow up, I will understand what I saw and stop thinking about it. I wonder whether I would be different if I had been more afraid and less curious. Would I regret not looking?
Have you ever looked where you were not allowed to look, listened through a wall, crossed a boundary—and changed? Does the version of you who did not see still exist somewhere, living peacefully, free from endless questions? The full story is available on the website konradziolkowskiart.

Konrad Ziolkowski is a Polish sculptor working primarily in stone, bronze, and mixed media, carrying on his family's sculptural heritage and academic training from the Eugeniusz Geppert Academy of Fine Arts. He employs a synthesis of traditional and contemporary techniques, combining the endurance of stone with the expressive potential of bronze and elements like glass and light, crafting simplified, symbolic forms and integrating original texts with each piece. His sculptures evoke deep introspection, inviting viewers into a personal, emotional dialogue that resonates with memory, tenderness, and the poignant ambiguity of human experience.
