concealing the unknown in its depths, a viscous pulsating mass that knows no rest, capable of raging under certain circumstances. The shore is solid and unchanging in its form, it represents consciousness - the external, knowable form of our personality. The conscious and the unconscious meet each other at this line of contact. Water can flood the shore, wear away the stone, but it can also retreat, exposing the bottom.
