About this artwork
In this landscape, silence becomes almost tangible. The low sun paints the sky in delicate transitions of lilac, rose, and golden tones, gently mirrored in the glassy surface of the river. In the foreground, a wooden pier leads to the water; it becomes a point of entry into the space, as if inviting the viewer to take a step toward the quiet current. On the left bank, a white-stone church with blue domes, framed by trees, serves as a visual anchor…
in this extended horizontal composition. Warm ochres and greens of the riverbanks echo the cool celestial hues, creating a balanced color harmony. The movement of clouds and water is barely perceptible — time seems suspended at the moment when day yields to night.
