About this artwork
This oil painting represents my fascination with organic forms and the calming beauty of nature. I was inspired by the spiral shape, which to me evokes both mystery and serenity—like a seashell slowly revealing its hidden depths. Using rich blue tones, I aimed to create a soothing yet intriguing atmosphere, with soft transitions between light and shadow to draw the viewer deeper into the composition. I wanted to balance abstraction with a sense of…
realism, allowing the form to be both recognizable and open to interpretation. My goal was to invite the viewer into a space of quiet contemplation, where the simplicity of the shape meets the complexity of its meaning.

« For me, there's no point in making art if it doesn't make my blood pump a little faster. »
Lance Hewison is an award-winning artist based in Germany whose paintings have been exhibited in England and the United States. He cites the human form as being central to his work, especially the expression and drama of the face. Hewison does not convey messages through his compositions. Rather, he places importance on allowing viewers to "enter" into his art, inviting them to create their own narratives.
