About this artwork
‘Carrera’ explores the delicate dance of femininity and masculinity through a visual dialogue between the lower body parts of women and fast cars. It is a counter part to “We’ve got this” which represents the feminine side, while “Carrera” embodies the masculine.
Carrera delves into masculine traits like sport, command, control, and dominance—stereotypes of male desire for cool and fast cars. This response to feedback from collectors, who felt my… work was too feminine, crafts a piece that caters to the quintessential male fantasy.
Yet, ‘Carrera’ also reveals hidden gems: articles on religious devotion to one’s creative purpose and the importance of not taking oneself too seriously. These subtle inclusions invite reflection on personal passions and the balance between earnestness and lightheartedness.
I am a German-Luxembourgish artist based in Amsterdam, exploring the intersection of fashion, color, and storytelling. With a background in high-end fashion design, I have worked with brands like Louis Vuitton and Karl Lagerfeld, which informs my artistic approach.
As a synesthete—experiencing a blending of senses where sounds and memories translate into colors—I channel these perceptions into abstract color studies and large-scale gradient works. My mixed-media collages layer pop culture, fashion, and personal narratives, incorporating text, WhatsApp conversations, and newspaper clippings to explore themes of identity, empowerment, and societal imbalances.
My work celebrates beauty while subtly highlighting contradictions in modern society. In 2020, I introduced my signature Löwie, symbolizing strength and creative independence. In 2024, I held two solo exhibitions in Amsterdam, further pushing the boundaries of my artistic expression.
