About this artwork
Carol halls - Protected area No. 63 Industrial activities and cultural activities
The Swiss engineer Erhardt Wolff opened a small workshop for the production of dressings in 1877 in Ghencea. In 1887 he moved it on the current ground of the former E. Wolff H.R.H. / Steaua Roșie, and changed their production profile several times. Weapons of warwere beiing produced here and also equipment for nuclear power stations. In 1991, the factory was transformed… into a limited company and its spaces became the property of the Hester company. In one of these spaces, hydraulic motors were produced. By including this parcel of the industrial heritage in the green area of the urban plan of Carol Park, the functional conversion of the owned spaces and their opening to the public space were prefigured. The Carol Halls project is developed following the initiative of the Zeppelin Association.
