Dangerous Standards explores how the female body is fragmented, reshaped, and objectified by social expectations. Soft, fleshy forms bound by red strings and nylon rise from a single red heel, turning beauty into a painful construction. Each curve and knot reflects how women are often reduced to parts — breasts, hips, legs — assembled to satisfy imposed ideals. The work questions who created these standards and why women continue trying to fit them,… even at emotional or physical cost.
Part of the series My Borders, this sculpture continues the project’s exploration of female experience through symbolic red forms associated with vulnerability, the body, emotional memory, and resistance. The series examines visible and invisible boundaries shaped by social norms, cultural expectations, family roles, and inner conflict — boundaries that may protect, but also confine, creating tension between freedom, belonging, and identity.
