Vanishing is a contemporary textile installation exploring the gradual disappearance of a woman’s visible presence within the domestic sphere. A translucent tulle surface reveals a fading portrait, while crimson red threads symbolize care, routine, emotional labor, and the unseen work that sustains everyday life. Once admired, the figure becomes inseparable from the home she shapes, her presence surviving as memory.
Part of the My Borders series,… the work examines the social, cultural, and emotional boundaries that accompany women throughout life. Red serves as a symbolic motif, evoking vulnerability, the body, emotional memory, resilience, and resistance. The installation reflects the tension between protection and restriction, belonging and individuality, while highlighting the invisible efforts that support family and domestic life.
Hand-signed by the artist. Unique artwork. Acrylic and textiles. 150 × 150 × 2 cm.
