A female shape is stretching her arms as a bird above her is stretching its wings. There comes the question: what are we? Are we different or are we the same? A black background of two shadows kissing, we realize for there are two vivid tongues interwined... reveals a kiss, which asks the question between two lovers: what are we? It is a philosophical question, it has layers to it as well as the painting does.

Leonor Vaz (or Dosia Kochanek) is a self-taught painter. She embraces a contemporary, somewhat surrealist style, freely painting what she sees without reliance on prescribed techniques. Her work centers mostly on herself and her experiences with people, loss, love and hope - aiming to disrupt and challenge the viewer. Her art powerfully conveys personal storytelling and her nuanced perspectives on life’s most intimate moments.
