About this artwork
I rendered the background as a primary-colored urban sprawl of red, blue, and yellow. By using these foundational colors for cities and dwellings, I show that this cycle of materialism is a universal, global reality rather than a solo struggle.
The Anatomy of Consumption
I’ve mapped my protagonist’s greed through five symbolic points on a central figure:
• Mouth & Right Hand: My symbols for voracious consumption and constant acquisition.
• Left Hand… & Stomach: A gesture showing that even when "full," the figure remains perpetually hungry.
• Right Leg: Represents the relentless pursuit of the "next best thing" driven by chronic ennui.
The Spiritual Void
This piece illustrates a tragic focus on the external. While the hands clutch at the transient, the heart is neglected, which I believe is the root of our ignorance. I am showing that the loop only breaks when we shift from ownership toward spiritual alignment and the Divine.
Liban Finser is a Saudi-born contemporary artist exploring the intricate dimensions of human emotion. Working exclusively in 1-of-1 original abstracts, he translates visceral internal expressions into rhythmic compositions. His signature figurative style is directly shaped by his natural myopia; by choosing to see the world without corrective lenses, he produces raw, unique forms that prioritize emotional depth over clinical precision. Central to his practice is a commitment to mental health advocacy. Each painting serves as a visual journey containing "hidden stories" and life advice, aiming to spread positivity and prevent suicide. This philosophy ensures that every work offers a guiding narrative for the human condition. With a commercial registration in Dubai and works currently under curation in Los Angeles, London, and New York, Liban’s "Petals to Dust" collection is increasingly recognized by leading interior design firms for its abstraction in modern minimalist environments.
