About this artwork
In this artwork I delved into abstraction and expressionism using oil painting on canvas using an impasto technique to create a tapestry of emotions. The work radiates an earthy, almost dreamlike energy. I used bold strokes and fluid, swirling forms giving the composition a rich and dynamic movement. Shades of deep blue, mustard yellow, forest green, and soft pink intermingle with expressive, vine-like lines of brown and red that seem to both connect…
and disrupt the color fields, the colors of a late summer.
I intended to capture a visceral sense of nature and also the inner landscape of thought and emotion in a visual symphony. With my gestural application of paint and the swirling motion I created a rhythm that feels both organic and psychological, as though the piece is mapping an internal or environmental storm. It suggests a meditation on movement and harmony, with each color reacting intuitively to the last.
