About this artwork
The painting is about the oil spill from the Gulf of Mexico and the mass extinction of marine animals when the Gulf turns into a death zone.
An elemental being of the water at the bottom left accompanies the dying stream of fish. In the middle of the picture are the ghosts of the whales, which have already been killed and they lead the fish into the spiritual world.
The painting is a free automatic painting and was created when I received the… message that billions of living things in the Gulf had died from the oil spill, which shook me deeply and will still die because the Gulf is now a death zone without oxygen in the water. And more schools of fish will therefore die there
It is painted with mother-of-pearl pigment, acrylic binder and my tears on black cardboard.
Artist statement: Water can heal with eco enzymes and clay: "EM Mud Ball River Movement".
We ourselves are the ones we are waiting for who will save us.

Lilith Milkyway is an experienced, multi-disciplinary German artist whose works have featured in prizes and exhibitions nationally. Her creative upbringing heavily influenced her future artistic path. From training with her painter father to sewing her own carnival costumes, her childhood was filled with creative purpose. Now an independent artist, she draws influence from 1980s New Wave to compose works that showcase diverse elements with an avant-garde flair.
