About this artwork
"Cocoa Beach with Shells" is a blend of acrylic paint at the top portion of the painting, with sand, and found objects like seashells in the bottom section. I wanted to capture the raw, shifting energy of water and sand as I saw the water recede back into the Atlantic Ocean. The sand adds texture to the grey and brown earth tones evoking a calming connection to colors on the shoreline of Cocoa Beach, while the embedded shells tell stories of the…
sea. I wanted to invite you to feel the soothing rhythm of the beach and bring a piece of that serene, grounded spirit into your space. The frame compliments the artwork as it is made from a Florida Spiny Lobster crate complete with the tag. This artwork inspired me to create seashore art on metal. I thought wouldn't it be fun to move the shells around.
