In this piece, I’ve woven surreal and semi-abstract elements to evoke a dreamlike Arctic landscape, blending figurative and naive styles for a whimsical yet mysterious feel. The icy blues and textured patterns reflect quiet resilience, while the lone creature invites a sense of wonder and exploration. This artwork will bring a serene, otherworldly energy to your space, sparking curiosity and calm imagination.
During the pandemic, living alone during… lockdown was lonely. I was frozen in sheet ice, like the Arctic ship Fram. Waiting for the ice to float me over the pandemic. I'd been to Norway in 2019 and being forced to rethink how to connect with the environment, and the act of painting. I worked from memory, finding new ways to describe the places I'd been, I felt a renewed sense of companionship with the natural world I loved, with a reminder that distance from each other, is really a state of mind.
