There’s a new quiet in the studio.
This piece is part of a recent shift, a refinement in both tone and touch. The familiar California poppies, once blazing with bold contrast, are now rendered with a softer gaze. Yellows tipped in gold, honeyed orange, pale ochre, and the faintest whisper of shadowed blue along the stems.
Painted in the morning light with palette knife and devotion, this work holds the feeling of a warm breeze across a coastal… meadow, still vivid, but a touch of subtlety. .
The background is softened, subtly textured, letting the florals carry the warmth. A study in restraint, and the quiet joy of color in balance.
