About this artwork
In this painting I try to capture a moment filled with sweetness and serenity, where a young girl finds her cat that a fleeting shadow brings back to her. The play of contrasts is at the heart of the work: golden rays cross the foliage, projecting moving bursts on the walls and the ground, while areas of shadow envelop the scene in a delicate mystery. The colors are soft and muted, oscillating between warm tones of powder pink, weathered browns,…
and the soothing greens of the foliage. The young girl, dressed simply, holds her cat against her with palpable affection. Her gestures are full of tenderness and intimacy, contrasting with the still tranquility of the objects around her: a slightly worn patterned carpet, a half-open door that suggests a peaceful alley.
This scene seems to be suspended in time, like a parenthesis of calm in the tumult of everyday life.

Lisbeth Buonanno is an award-winning French artist whose work has been exhibited in Singapore, Paris, and Guangzhou.
