About this artwork
“Stay Close to My Heart” is an intimate work. The woman sits on a bed, an intimate and personal sanctuary where complex emotions mingle. She is captivated by something that we, as viewers, cannot see, but can feel through the troubled expression on her face. Her eyes reflect a mixture of sadness, resignation and acceptance, as if she had been trapped in a moment of inevitable transition.
However, the most intriguing detail of this scene lies in… the mirror in the background. In this mirror, the silhouette of a man appears, but his back is turned to the woman. He seems to be leaving, moving away from the room and the woman sitting on the bed. His departure evokes a separation, an end. The painting captures the precise moment when their destinies separate, where the thread of their common history is cut.
The juxtaposition of the two characters creates a palpable tension...
