About this artwork
Lu Mourelle uses life experiences to create such suggestive characters. They are not realistic, but they can be real. These women carry thoughts that overflow the canvas limits and leave question marks in the air. They are self-confident, sensitive, true women; each one has her unique beauty.
In this artwork, I've melded acrylic, pastel, charcoal, and graphite to craft a semi-abstract visage that touches upon the essence of figurative beauty, framed… by minimalism and a pop art zest. It's a symphony of bold contrasts and thoughtful nuances—a statement piece that invokes contemplation and vibrant energy, perfect to invigorate any living space with a touch of modernity and expressive soulfulness.

« For me, being an artist is to explore the whole field of feelings without asking for permission. It's opening Pandora's box, without fear of its consequences. »
Lu Mourelle is a Brazilian painter based in Portugal. Her paintings are the result of her restless childhood alternating between Brazil and Europe. The focus of her paintings is on the representation of women who are different and rich in personality as well as emotion; characters of atypical and contemporary beauty.
