About this artwork
I painted this painting in a certain state of brilliance, without poses, chaining the steps together automatically, leaving aside any form of reflection, analysis and judgment. Only the eye and instinct, supported by muscular and gestural memory, were in a state of intense alertness. The constraining nature of the effort had disappeared in favor of a lightness of execution, as if driven by an invisible model that only my unconscious perceived. The… natural environment is represented here by the terrestrial world and the aquatic world that intermingle on the same plane by means of abstract touches representing joyful vegetation. The fragile balance between the colors comes from a purely intuitive arrangement and contributes to the impression of delicacy that emanates from the whole. In order to make the paint more liquid for a more fluid application, I mixed it with glossy medium for acrylic, which caused transparency on certain colors.
Luc Andrieux is an artist based in France whose works have been presented in several solo and group exhibitions nationally and internationally. For him, painting is like a vital necessity. Through his compositions, Andrieux's goal is to generate a questioning contemplation, to freeze time and to induce an atmosphere suggested by the hidden face of the elements. His abstractions, landscapes and figurative works are most often created using acrylics on canvas, oil being reserved for the treatment of more complex effects. Luc Andrieux does not limit himself to a particular style or theme that would limit his expression but chooses those that are most in line with his vision of the moment.
