About this artwork
Can we be nostalgic for a place we have never known? I'm not sure, each landscape that I paint ultimately represents the sum of the memories of all the places that I have seen without having been there and of all those that I have imagined. In this one, a diffuse and fragmented light evolves in a veiled sky which merges with the earth and the water. The elements seem to float in space thanks to the drippings falling into the depths. I always try… in my landscapes to inscribe a particular luminosity which seems to arise from everywhere, for that I use a little more the background of the canvas and a little less the contribution of white, the latter serving above all to underline bursts of light on specific places. Acrylic allowed me to play with transparencies to make the colors vibrate, essentially composed of Terre de Sienne, Gris de Payne and Turquoise.
Luc Andrieux is an artist based in France whose works have been presented in several solo and group exhibitions nationally and internationally. For him, painting is like a vital necessity. Through his compositions, Andrieux's goal is to generate a questioning contemplation, to freeze time and to induce an atmosphere suggested by the hidden face of the elements. His abstractions, landscapes and figurative works are most often created using acrylics on canvas, oil being reserved for the treatment of more complex effects. Luc Andrieux does not limit himself to a particular style or theme that would limit his expression but chooses those that are most in line with his vision of the moment.
