About this artwork
Season 3 was an artistic and technical challenge. I had to get out of my usual processes and exploit the color differently, without premeditating absolutely anything. Everything had to flow from a succession of instinctive gestures, each one being oriented according to the previous one. It was a question of managing to create the most abstract work possible, even if in the end it resulted in something quite vegetal, even floral. The brush strokes… testify to the nervousness necessary for my expression, implying a certain speed of execution itself necessary for non-reflection. In order to be able to vary the strokes without changing the brush, I cut a beveled spalter, which accentuated the randomness of the gesture. Finally, the acrylic was applied only in thick layers, without adding water, favoring superimpositions without waiting for drying and causing raw and partial fades.
Luc Andrieux is an artist based in France whose works have been presented in several solo and group exhibitions nationally and internationally. For him, painting is like a vital necessity. Through his compositions, Andrieux's goal is to generate a questioning contemplation, to freeze time and to induce an atmosphere suggested by the hidden face of the elements. His abstractions, landscapes and figurative works are most often created using acrylics on canvas, oil being reserved for the treatment of more complex effects. Luc Andrieux does not limit himself to a particular style or theme that would limit his expression but chooses those that are most in line with his vision of the moment.
