Little Orange Ball II is a small, explosive sculpture. Two oak logs stand firmly on a steel base and are split by an orange ball. The question of whether the ball will fly into the ball from bottom to top or from top to bottom is open. Both are possible and intensify the dynamics of this sculpture. Is the ball a unifying or dividing element? The possible interpretations of this work are, in any case, extremely diverse.
Ludwig Maria Vongries is a German sculptor who works primarily in steel, oak, and colored, transparent resin, and has been deeply influenced by modern art. His abstract and reduced sculptures are often created using 1:10 scale models and are characterized by simple yet fascinating forms in which the different materials are harmoniously balanced. With his works, he invites the viewer to see familiar things in a new light and discover unexpected perspectives.
