About this artwork
For many people, the car is a place, i.e. a mobile place, with which they go from one place to another, to work and in the circles of everyday life. This is what Ludwig Plotter's work from the pizza picture series is about. A car is a time coffin, a mobile coffin in which we sit, our self-coffin, so to speak = car coffin. Plotter used pizza cardboard as the basis for the image, from which the lettering "TRADIZ" can still be seen. The work is created…
in connection with spray templates (cut by a Secabo plotter). The figures of the people behind the windscreens are a bit reminiscent of James Ensor's make-up pictures. If the car is not a coffin, then it is a form of mask that we surround ourselves with to appear as who we want to be. Above all, cars today should not affect the climate and should be climate-neutral. The prefix E- in front of the heavy new cars makes them unsustainable. The E- is also just a mask.

Ludwig Plotter is an award-winning artist based in Germany whose paintings have been feautred in numerous solo and group exhibitions nationally. Through his distinctive works, he explores themes relating to nature and all that flows within it. For Plotter, there is no difference between technique and painting, just as there is no difference between art and science. He primarily creates with oils, tempera, resin, spray paint, and gouache on canvas.
