About this artwork
This piece draws all of its inspiration from a trip we made to Corfu. There was simply so much to capture—from the nooks and crannies of its side streets to the harbour, the whitewashed buildings and the glistening Mediterranean sea.
Working from sketches made during the journey, I have brought these fragments together through a unique compositional technique, allowing different moments of Corfu to exist within a single painting.
A collector’s… piece for anyone who has fallen in love with the Mediterranean and would like to bring a little piece of Corfu home.

Lukos Hey is an Australian painter who has been working professionally since 2003. Trained at Newcastle Art College and the University of Newcastle, his paintings combine the expressive richness of traditional oil painting with the calculated structure of Cubism. Through colour, imagination and a distinctive compositional approach, he reimagines familiar subjects and invites viewers to see the world with renewed wonder.
Following his studies, Lukos began his professional career with a respected commercial gallery, exhibiting and travelling internationally. Like many Australian artists before him, he was drawn to Europe, where he continues to live and work. He is now based in Prague, Czech Republic.
His paintings are held in private collections internationally. In 2021, his contribution to contemporary art was recognised with the Golden Europea Award from the European Union of Arts.
