About this artwork
In 2022, I experimented with color and space. I reflected on the way we perceive fixed spaces and objects between the atmosphere and the gaze. I admired the brushwork of Edgar Degas and Édouard Manet, who anticipated the idea of a moving gaze in their paintings, and I was significantly influenced by them.
This painting emerged from the tension of negotiating between harmony and imbalance. Rather than describing a specific place, I sought to capture… a fleeting condition of perception—where color becomes atmosphere and space unfolds through the movement of the eye. The composition invites the viewer to wander through the surface, discovering subtle shifts of color and rhythm. In this way, the work does not simply depict a scene; it creates an experience of looking, where stillness and movement quietly coexist.
Over time, the painting reveals new relationships between color, light, and space, offering a contemplative presence that continues to unfold with each encounter.
