About this artwork
I did not set out to observe a flower and reproduce it. Rather, I sought to evoke the possibility of what we imagine as a “flower” through atmosphere.
For me, the flower is not a fixed object, but a field that shifts within perception, echoing Maurice Merleau-Ponty. What I encountered was not the flower itself, but the air it inhabits and the subtle atmosphere around it.
I chose the familiar motif of a flower in a vase on a table, using its conventional… form to reveal slight deviations and an indefinable unfamiliarity. This is not representation, but a continuous process—akin to Gilles Deleuze’s notion of “becoming.”
Ultimately, the flower is not an object, but an image that emerges through atmosphere—both recognizable and newly formed within my own conception.
