About this artwork
This work is a cry for the freedom to be oneself. Trees, like people, grow each day with their new shoots and their wounds, without comparing themselves to one another; they simply grow, each in their own way. It evokes the mystery and serenity of a birch forest in an impossible, timeless, and enveloping blue. Painted using a mixed media technique that includes vegan watercolors made with such special minerals as kyanite, the mineral that gave its… name to cyan blue, and lapis lazuli, also known as "blue gold," as well as acrylics enhanced with micas and flat inks.
These pigments capture the ephemeral light and create the textures that bring each of the trees to life.
It belongs to the *Forest* series, a collection of works that seek to capture the essence of natural landscapes, intentionally moving away from human presence, away from stress and haste, turning this work into a refuge of calm.
Painted on cotton canvas, mounted on a wooden frame and ready to hang.
Trained in Fine Arts, Macarena Sanz transitions fluidly from oil to graphite, but it is in the magic of watercolor where she finds her voice. With a bold technique that challenges the limits between figurativism and abstraction, Sanz approaches large formats to explore serenity in the face of chaos. His works are an oasis of tranquility that invite you to find calm amid the storm of daily life.
