About this artwork
I love summer’s bold contrasts, the brilliance of the sun, and the deep shadows. Everything that nature in summer provides. Melody began to resonate from the heart of an old rose painting, emerging powerful and layered as it moved from June toward August.
In this piece, I poured my emotions into vibrant acrylic strokes, blending impressionism with semi-abstract forms. The fiery yellows and deep greens evoke a powerful, almost wild energy—like nature's… untamed spirit at dusk. This painting breathes life into any space, inviting warmth and a dynamic flow of creativity and introspection. It’s a dance between chaos and harmony that I wanted to share with you.

Maija Vanhatapio (b. 1946) was born in Helsinki and currently lives and works in Kajaani, Eastern Finland. She holds a degree in graphic design from School of Industrial Arts and has studied fine arts at the University of Lapland. Vanhatapio is a member of the Oulu Region Professional Art Association and has exhibited her work extensively in solo and group exhibitions both nationally and internationally, including in online galleries.
Her artistic practice is deeply inspired by the dynamic forces of nature, especially the shifting moods and forms of the Nordic landscape. Vanhatapio’s work often explores the tension between abstraction and observation, using mixed media and acrylics to distill visual experiences into elemental forms. Her compositions invite viewers to pause and reflect, offering a quiet yet powerful dialogue between memory, emotion, and environment.
