About this artwork
Fractured Memory III - Epicenter (framed 23x23x3.5cm). In the Fractured Memory series, I explore memory as a fragile, multi-layered structure. Memories do not appear as a linear narrative, but as fragments – displaced, superimposed, and sometimes visible only as traces.
In Epicenter, a network of cracks spreads across a golden surface. The seemingly stable layer is pierced by fine lines in violet, pink, and dark tones, reminiscent of tectonic stresses… or neural connections.
At the center appears a dark sign – like a fragment of a symbol or a lost language. From this point, the structure seems to unfold, as if the origin of a movement lay here.
Maja Weller is an accomplished painter who uses acrylic and modeling paste, pigments and lime, gold foil and art metal in her works. Her artistic practice is characterized by spontaneous expression, while her techniques create a special dynamic and texture in the paintings. Her artworks, although abstract, represent harmonious reflections of the past, present and future, inviting the viewer to linger in the present moment.
