About this artwork
Silken Matter – Veil I & Erosion II (2 x 35x35x4cm framed)
This diptych unites two contrasting, yet inextricably linked states of materiality: concealment and revelation, gentleness and transformation.
While Veil I is characterized by a silky, almost textile-like lightness, a shimmering, golden surface lies like a veil over the underlying structures. Forms remain suggested, hidden, in a state between visibility and mystery.
In contrast,… Erosion II reveals a more dynamic, eruptive energy. Layers are exposed, structures emerge, and the material seems to be in a process of change – raw, in motion, and yet imbued with an inner order.
Together, the two works unfold a visual dialogue about change and time: the hidden and the visible, the soft and the structural are not in contradiction, but rather mutually dependent.
Maja Weller is an accomplished painter who uses acrylic and modeling paste, pigments and lime, gold foil and art metal in her works. Her artistic practice is characterized by spontaneous expression, while her techniques create a special dynamic and texture in the paintings. Her artworks, although abstract, represent harmonious reflections of the past, present and future, inviting the viewer to linger in the present moment.
