About this artwork
“Two Lines” is the first work in the “DIPTYCH” series, created as a composition of two separate parts, each measuring 100 × 70 cm, forming a complete piece of 100 × 140 cm.
The idea behind the work was to depict a heart—an attempt to capture and translate the meaning of love in today’s world through the simplest possible form. Built from just two lines, the piece embraces minimalism while holding a deeper emotional intention. At some point, an impulsive… decision introduced subtle splashes, adding a sense of spontaneity and movement to the composition.
Even the price carries meaning—it was calculated by summing the positions of the letters in the word “LOVE” within the English alphabet.
What started as a small idea grew into a large-scale diptych, where simplicity expands into something more complex, existing between two parts rather than within one.

Maksym Skvortsov (b. 1995, Poltava, Ukraine) is a contemporary Ukrainian artist exploring identity, emotion, vulnerability, and inner freedom. He studied monumental painting at the Lviv National Academy of Arts.
In 2017, he created “10 Meters of Your Opportunities,” an open-air project in Lviv and Uzhhorod, painting a 1.5 × 10-meter artwork in 1.5 hours before a live audience. That year, he also participated in the national “Silver Easel” competition.
From 2018 to 2020, he collaborated with fashion designer Oleh Havryliv, creating hand-painted collections for Lviv Fashion Week.
Today, Maksym works with acrylic and markers on paper, combining personal experience with a bold graphic language. His works are held in collections across the USA, Ukraine, Canada, China, Belgium, and Germany and have been featured in Vogue Polska.
Since 2023, he has been represented on Saatchi Art, Singulart, and Zatista.
