About this artwork
Imagine waking up to the wonder of New England on a perfect spring day. The piece is inspired by the beautiful landscape forms seen by the artist from her hometown in Wilton CT. It features color bands of white, yellow, turquoise, black and cobalt applied with thick stucco-like acrylic paint, that the artist mixes in with plaster, gel and sand. The painting is minimalist, yet expressionistic; calm, but with high impact!

Malu Tan is a Phillippines born artist who resides in the United States, where her paintings have been exhibited widely. Her work is an attempt to attain a "sublime juncture", to capture the life force of the natural world and make sense of our place within it. Tan searches for the rhythm and the deep silence in nature, as well as within ourselves. Her artistic process is both intentional and experimental, and characterized by layers of expressive marks and texture.
