About this artwork
Title: Ingravitto
Pineal Series
Author: MDLR / Rubén Pérez
Mixed media on canvas
Text from the room:
I paint like someone who opens his third eye with blows.
In this work, Ingravitto, I'm not looking for beauty, I'm looking for vertigo. I'm looking for the exact moment when the mind lets go of the body and the soul remembers it can fly. Everything floats, everything burns. There are symbols that came to me in dreams—inverted words, staircases… with no destination, stains like subconscious memories.
The Pineal Series is my opening ritual. I don't know if it's inward or upward. It's the shamanic trance of a modern-day redneck, with MDMA on my tongue and my consciousness wanting to break the boundaries.
Ingravitto is the moment before takeoff. A non-place where gravity no longer governs, neither the body's nor the system's.

Man de la Rue, aka MDLR, Multidisciplinary Artist
Creator of Megaviolin Sound Project. An acclaimed self-taught musician and painter, he sculpts his work with ink, earth, and wine, to which he adds the waste of society. His technique evokes a raw marginal expressionism, where he interweaves graffiti, acrylic, oil, and found pigments, superimposing layers in an emotional process that mimics memory and personal exorcism. His canvases whisper the untold stories of those on the margins of society, conveying feelings of pain and hope, a plea to transmute pain into luminosity.
