About this artwork
Revealing is part of a blue series of works that the artist has developed over several years and continues to expand. Plaster, acrylic, and a wide variety of pigments are applied thickly to natural canvas, coalescing into a powerful, multi-layered surface. This emphasis on materiality gives the work an almost sculptural character, revealing relief and depth. The interplay of gestural freedom, dense application of paint, and open areas of the canvas… creates a tension that constantly challenges the viewer's perception.
Manuela Karin Knaut is a professional painter and installation artist with a Master of Fine Arts degree. Her international experience shapes her material-based practice. Using acrylics, pigments, ink, oil pastels, and found objects, she develops powerful, multi-layered compositions through layering, superimposition, and gestural spontaneity. She combines painting and installation, plays with chance, and transforms surfaces into living archives. Her large-format works are exhibited worldwide and are held in renowned collections on all five continents.
