The three-part work series Catwalk combines industrial building materials with artistic printing techniques/screen printing, reflecting the tension between functionality and aesthetics. Figurative motifs are applied to formwork panels, originally used as temporary forms in concrete construction, using the screen-printing process.
The silhouettes depicted—in the color variations of violet, copper, and turquoise—refer to bodies, movement, and presence.… The grid print and the deliberately fragmented surface create a dialogue between body and construction, between the ephemeral nature of the catwalk and the permanence of concrete, which the material typically forms.
The work addresses the act of showing and being observed: The "catwalk" becomes a stage where materiality and identity encounter each other. The rough structure of the panel contrasts with the sensual color of the prints, resulting in an ambivalent aesthetic—raw, yet at the same time subtly elegant.
