About this artwork
The Simpsons are a globally beloved family of comics that are always on the go. With ten-year-old Bart, you never know what prank he'll pull next.
I also depicted the Simpsons as a motif in my Pop Art series on a devalued bond from 2013, here Bart and Mr. Burns, Homer Simpson's employer. This type of painting with the link to a devalued bond is another way of depicting the comic characters in a painterly way with a graphic touch and at the same… time bringing fiction and reality into harmony.
Painting/drawing with watercolors, touch-up pen and paint marker on a cancelled American bond from 2013. The bond naturally bears signs of wear appropriate to its age, such as holes, creases (also in the middle), etc. However, it is still in very good condition. The painting with a graphic touch was created in 2023 and is hand-signed and dated.
Manuela Reitz mainly uses acrylic paints, sometimes in combination with watercolors. She uses experimental techniques, with quick, intuitive gestures and the targeted placement of accents with paint markers and black ink. Inspired by nature and childhood motifs, she creates pictures that can be read like books. Her art aims to generate happiness, to enable an emotional journey that touches the heart and makes you forget space and time.
