About this artwork
In this work, I capture the untamed beauty and sublime stillness of nature. Through the use of analog black and white photography, I emphasize the timeless majesty of the landscape and its dramatic contrasts. The image speaks of the tranquility and mysterious essence of pristine places—and of the power that lies precisely in this stillness. At the same time, the work is understood as a tribute to the water cycle and to the connection between two distant ecosystems that, despite their great distance, are closely related.
The photo collage is sealed with a layer of epoxy resin, which gives the work a deep, glossy varnish and further enhances its three-dimensional effect.

I am María Gutiérrez, a visual artist from Bogotá, Colombia. In my artistic practice, I work with two focuses: painting and photography. Both media enable me to create emotional, atmospheric, and contemplative spaces that invite connection with oneself, one's surroundings, and nature. I completed my art studies in 2009 at the Universidad Nacional de Colombia with a focus on photography. I then taught art and photography at private schools in Bogotá for four years. In 2012, I moved to Germany. I later continued my studies at the Stuttgart State Academy of Fine Arts and successfully graduated in 2021. Since then, I have been working as a freelance artist. Today, I live in Freiburg im Breisgau with my husband and our two children. My work has been exhibited in Colombia, Ecuador, Germany, Switzerland, and Spain, among other places.
