About this artwork
In this digital piece, I've captured the stark simplicity and raw functionality of everyday objects. The monochrome palette enhances the textures and forms, evoking a sense of enduring utility and the contrasts inherent in life. With each blade's silent story, this work invites contemplation on the fine line between the mundane and the profound. It brings an edgy, thought-provoking presence to any space it graces.

« A photo is a voice that sleeps deep inside of me and is a way to capture something inside of myself. »
Mara Catalan is a photographer based in the United States who has exhibited her art nationally, as well as in Estonia, Spain, Cuba, and Switzerland. Her artistic expression most often speaks of the world her. Catalan's pieces are "part diary, part autobiography, and part personal documentary". She most often photographs using black and white film, employing various cameras, depending on her subject. For her, the work isn't completed until she prints it out in the darkroom.
