About this artwork
The term "ylem" is used to refer to the fundamental substance from which all matter originates, according to Aristotle. Aristotle described this substance as undifferentiated and from which all matter derives. The word "ylem" is also used in a cosmological context to refer to the primordial egg, a droplet of condensed matter with extremely high density and temperature, which is believed to have given rise to the universe.
Starting from this captivating… definition, I conceived a series of digital artworks. First, I photograph a mixture of colors as I drip them onto polyethylene sheeting.
