Raquel Welch, born Jo Raquel Tejada on September 5, 1940 in Chicago, is an American actress and singer.
Born to a Bolivian father, Armando Carlos Tejada Urquizo (1911-1976) aeronautical engineer and an American mother, Sarah Josephine Hall (1909-2000). She took dance and comedy lessons while pursuing her studies at a high school in La Jolla, California until 1957: the last year, she won the Miss Fairest of the Fair in San Diego. Even before her… twenty years, she won titles in beauty contests such as "Miss Photogenic", "Miss Contour" and "Miss Maid of California". In 1959, she decided to take the name of her first husband, James Welch. She began her career as a waitress in cocktail parties and became a model by being remarkable for her beauty; She then obtained "pretty girl" roles in film from 1964 after being noticed by producer Patrick Curtis.
