About this artwork
Three butterflies carry a folded crane. In Japan such a folded crane is a symbol of peace, happiness and recovery. It’s a beautiful symbol, especially in times like these while the whole world is suffering under the causes of the Corona virus. To spread happiness and recovery with the world I made this painting and send the positieve vibes into your direction. All the best in this uncertain times!

« I see myself as a visual storyteller, within the literary tradition of fables. »
Marcel Witte is an award-winning Dutch painter and draftsman whose works have been exhibited nationally, as well as in Germany, Belgium, Austria, Singapore, Cuba, and Italy. His paintings are a subtle way for him to criticize modern society and are a reflection of political and social issues. The nearly life-sized animals that Witte portrays within his compositions are chosen carefully to reveal human nature without being overly symbolic.
