About this artwork
Sakanagie for those who speak Brazilian, has a very precise and funny meaning... for those who don't speak it, (among other things the original term, was deliberately distorted to "japonese" it), it is simply the name, of what was initially supposed to be the name of a young oriental woman, but who unfortunately, underwent a radical correction to the expression of her face, dictated by the death of one of my beloved dog friends, called Buddy. Following… this sad event, her gaze was modified, with the most representative expression and close to the grim and severe essentiality, of what for me is death. The acrylic colors used in this work are also dictated by the same state of mind, and the few lines that outline the features of the face, are only deliberately essential and minimalist. Despite the story that accompanies this canvas, the energy expressed is positive, very strong and of great impact.
Marco Amato, emerging from the world of fashion, crafts his work on large, Italian-made canvas, predominantly using acrylics. His style touches upon the vibrant, energetic themes of 80s and 90s Pop Art, often mixing in enamels for depth. Amato's work showcases love, humor, and a concern for our planet, represented through beautifully painted primates— and women with a strong personality, evoking a poignant critique of humanity and of our current society. ❤️
