About this artwork
This is an interactive painting from the series "Sara's thoughts" 6.The three ages. An elderly woman, a young woman and a child are linked by family ties but changing their mutual position also changes their age and expressiveness.
The Face, identity or mask that hides us, escapes a definitive meaning that also varies according to the context and relationships with other faces. This perennial "ambiguity" offers inexhaustible interpretations.
The… interactive picture is made up of "open" materials: 4 faces (or bodies) on modular and interchangeable 30x30 cm wooden panels that can take on different meanings based on the choice of the user who decides the position, contributing to the countless possible compositions . Assembly is very easy thanks to the magnets. Thus the aesthetic experience is shared by both the artist and the user. The panels can be mounted on the wall or on the floor and the composition can change shape.
« A mirror reflects a face and art reflects the soul. »
Marco Ronga is an experienced painter, draftsman, and sculptor based in Italy whose works have been exhibited nationally and in England. He describes his works as fusing themes of the portrait and the human figure with suggestions of urban architecture and the landscape resuting in "portraits of places and landscapes of bodies". Ronga's painterly compositions are most often created with acrylics and oils on wood or canvas.
