About this artwork
This work represents a dreamlike self-portrait of mine on a 1:1 scale. The work is not limited to the aesthetic dimension alone, but becomes an attempt to give form to my feelings and emotions, visually representing the cage in which the pressure I experienced when I drew it held me prisoner. The knife behind my back represents self-sabotage, while the scissors in my other hand represent freedom from the roots that keep me imprisoned in the cage;…
furthermore, the roots feed on the knife's blood, representing how my self-sabotage keeps me bound and imprisoned in these dynamics.
Some elements transcend the boundaries of the canvas, representing the tangibility of what they represent: images that do not belong only to the pictorial space, but continue to exist even outside of it.
