About this artwork
The glued world in yellow light
The UHU brand color, the yellow, is becoming more and more imprinted in Marco Spitzar's artistic DNA. At the beginning of his discussion of the content, the predominant color was brown, as a synonym for the dreariness of the post-war period, he now allows strong color accents such as pure cadmium yellow. The previous mood and color world was due to the atmospheres and impressions of the limited printing processes… of the 1950s. The figures become even more selected, condensed and stereotyped.
The precisely applied UHU surface makes the edges look almost sharp, as if they were cut out of glass. The adhesive surface refracts the light and shimmers in different facets depending on the direction from which the picture is viewed. The figures on the natural canvas shine almost unreally poppy, frozen in the contrast between the artificial and the natural.

« There is nothing more exciting than owning your own story. The world's own explanation. Every materialism fades there. »
Marco Spitzar is an award-winning draftsman whose works have been featured in several solo exhibitions in Austria. He believes that we are born glued to the world, detached and heavy from imprints and stories to which we stick. Spitzar has used UHU adhesive in his the creation of his compositions for over forty-years, making new surface structures that also allow his imagery to remain transparent.
